The President of the Region Provence-Alpes-Côtes d’Azur (France) and the President of the Inter-Mediterranean Commission of the CPMR, Michel Vauzelle has spoken about the sinking in the Mediterranean on 19 April 2015 and has announced his determination to meet the Presidents of the Region of Sicily and Calabria in order to work on the organisation of a solidarity network between the Mediterranean Regions.

- Still today, hundreds of people would rather die drowning in the Mediterranean than through starvation or misery in their homeland.
Italy has rescued and taken in these victims off the coast of Sicily and Calabria on its own.

What is Europe doing?
