• La compagnia aerea low cost Star 1 Airlines, con base a Vilnius (Lituania) e rappresentata in Italia da Edograf, ha cessato le attività il 1° ottobre 2010 a causa di gravi difficoltà finanziarie.

Start 1 aveva collegato Vilnius a Palermo fino al 29 agosto 2010 ed in precedenza a Milano Malpensa.

Lithuanian airline Star1 Airlines has filed for bankruptcy.
The airline had a swath of legal claims against it in quick succession after their plane was detained last week in Dublin following a dispute between management and investors, writes The Lithuania Tribune.

Airline staff and Vilnius International Airport followed close behind, registering claims against the airline.

Star Team Group being unable to continue providing funding to its wholly-owned Star1 Airlines and taking into account that Star1 Airlines is unable to operate the only aircraft due to its detention in Dublin airport decided to initiate bankruptcy to Star1 Airlines,” the company said in a press release.

• /////// • Transport Minister Eligijus Masiulis said that the state could recover its money from the company in court afterwards.

It is estimated that Star1 Airlines has sold almost 16,000 tickets to the flights that will not be operated. The airline owes about 3.5 million litas (0.99 million euros) to its passengers.
