- Dopo la morte improvvisa del Presidente Rolf Jetzer lo scorso mese di Settembre per infarto cardiaco, Bruno Gehrig (già presidente di Swiss Life) eletto Nuovo Presidente della Compagnia Aerea Svizzera.

Il prof. Bruno Gehrig (classe 1946) personalità molto nota in Svizzera, è anche vice presidente della società farmaceutica Roche e membro del Cda di UBS. Fino al 2003 faceva parte della direzione della Banca Nazionale Svizzera.

Gli altri membri del Consiglio di Amministrazione sono gli svizzeri Walter Bosch, Christoph Franz, Jacques Aigrain e Stefan Lauer.

Gli attuali membri del Consiglio sono il Prof. Dr. Thomas Bieger, Claudio Generali, Prof. Dr. Conrad Meyer, e UFAC Direttore Dr. Peter Müller.

Bruno Gehrig è una personalità svizzera molto rispettata che ha dato prova di ampie competenze.

Negli ultimi anni ha acquisito profonde conoscenze del settore Aeronautico, commenta in una nota dell'Aviolinea Claudio Generali, vicepresidente di Fondazione Swiss Aviation. Quest'ultima in caso di una carica vacante ha il diritto di raccomandare qualcuno; essa ha optato per Gehrig che attualmente è Presidente della Fondazione e la Lufthansa, che controlla Swiss, ha accettato.

Bruno Gehrig has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swiss International Air Lines Ltd., upon the recommendation of the Swiss Air Transport Foundation. He succeeds Rolf P. Jetzer, who died in September 2010

• Bruno Gehrig, Chairman of the Swiss Air Transport Foundation, was appointed to the Board of Directors of Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. (SWISS) today, and was subsequently elected Chairman of the Board by his fellow board members.

Gehrig’s appointment follows a corresponding recommendation by his fellow trustees on the Swiss Air Transport Foundation, which is entitled to propose a new candidate for appointment to the SWISS Board of Directors in the event of a vacancy thereon. His appointment has the full support of SWISS and Lufthansa. The vacancy arose following the death in September of former Board Chairman Rolf P. Jetzer.

“Bruno Gehrig is a highly-respected Swiss personality with a proven track record,” says Claudio Generali, Deputy Chairman of the Swiss Air Transport Foundation. “He has also gained a valuable insight into the relevant issues within the air transport sector over the past few years. As such, he is ideally qualified for his new function at SWISS.”

Professor Bruno Gehrig is Deputy Chairman of the Board of Roche Holding and a member of the Board of Directors of UBS. After serving as a professor at St. Gallen University, he was a member of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank from 1996 to 2003 and Chairman of the Board of Swiss Life Holding from 2003 to 2009.
