DP World Dubai's maritime sector strategy seeing rapid implementation New terminal per grandi navi portacontainer Jul 2013

1a portacontainer (MSC La Spezia cargo con capacità di trasporto di 14mila teu) approda nella nuova banchina ampliata del Container Terminal 2 del porto Jebel Ali, a Dubai.

Nuovo terminal gestito da DP World (società emirina) lungo 3 km consente approdo contemporaneo di 6 navi portacontainer di grandi dimensioni.

Con questa opera, il porto di Dubai Jebel Ali raggiunge una capacità annua di 16 milioni di teu, che con l’apertura del Terminal 3 prevista entro il 2014 crescerà a 19 milioni di teu, grazie alla possibilità di ospitare contemporaneamente 10 navi portacontenitori di nuova generazione.

Il Terminal 3 ha una banchina lunga 1860 m. con acque profonde 17 m.

70 ettari di piazzali per area logistica retrostante.

Jebel Ali Launches New Capacity DOCKS

The day after Drydocks World Dubai is the new name for Dubai Drydocks,
the largest single repair complex in the Middle East.

//// Dubai Ports (DP) World officially opened on Wednesday (26 Jun 2013) a new extension to CONTAINER TERMINAL 2 at its flagship Jebel Ali Port in the western part of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The new expansion will increase the capacity of the world's largest man-made container port by 1 million TEU
(twenty-foot equivalent container units) to 15 million TEU.

The addition will also extends the quay wall at terminal 2 by 400 meters to 3,000 meters and allow simultaneous handling of six mega ships, said DP World in an e-mailed statement.

DUBAI - Together with container terminal 3, which is now under construction, Jebel Ali Port will reach 19 million TEU capacity by 2014 and will be able to handle 10 of the giant new generation vessels at the same time -- the only port in the region able to do so - said Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem - chairman DP World.

On the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, Bin Sulayem welcomed one of the largest container ships, the 2010-built MSC La Spezia.
