Malta Fresh Fruit & Vegetable • scendono i volumi di verdura prodotta - salgono quelli della frutta Jan/Apr 2011

• Pomodori, cavolfiori e zucche sono tra i prodotti ortofrutticoli Maltesi che hanno registrato un calo in volume nel 1° quadrimestre 2011

• Secondo le statistiche pubblicate da National Statistics Office (NSO) consumi & forniture di ortofrutticoli nel 1° quadrimestre del 2011 sono diminuite, passando da 11.200 a 10.100 ton.

• il valore all'ingrosso è aumentato del 17,2%, per un totale di 5,2 milioni di euro.

• NSO MALTA riporta che il volume di ortaggi freschi è diminuito del 12% (9.500 ton), rispetto allo stesso periodo del 2010.

• Diminuzioni sono state registrate nella fornitura di POMODORI (-26,3%), cavolfiori (-17,1%) e zucche (-9,9%).

• il valore all'ingrosso degli ortaggi è aumentato del 21,3% raggiungendo i 44,8 milioni di euro nello stesso periodo.

• La fornitura di frutta ha invece registrato un incremento del 24,3%, principalmente grazie ad ARANCE ROSSE (+36,7%) & arance bionde (+33,6%).

• il valore all'ingrosso della frutta è diminuito del 3,4%, raggiungendo i 0,7 milioni di euro.

• NSO MALTA rivela che gli Agricoltori Maltesi hanno fornito 9.100 ton di frutta e verdura, guadagnando 4,6 milioni di euro, pari al 90,6% della fornitura totale di frutta e verdura.

///////// Tomatoes, cauliflower and vegetable marrows are amongst the fresh products which registered a drop in volume this year 2011.

• According to statistics published by the National Statistics Office (NSO), fresh fruit and vegetable supplies for the first quarter of 2011 dropped from 11.2 million kg to 10.1 million kg.

////////// The wholesale value rose by 17.2%, amounting to €5.2 million.

• NSO says the volume of fresh vegetables fell by 12% to 9.5 million kg over the same period in 2010.

Declines were registered in the supply of tomatoes (-26.3%), cauliflower (-17.1%) and vegetable marrow (-9.9%).

////////////// The wholesale value of fresh vegetables rose by 21.3% to €44.8 million during the same period. The supply of fresh fruit registered an increase of 24.3%, mainly due to oranges (+36.7%) and sweet oranges (+33.6%).

• The wholesale value of fresh fruit decreased by 3.4%, to €0.7 million.

////////// NSO also reveals that Maltese farmers supplied 9.1 million kg of fresh fruit and vegetables, yielding €4.6 million, representing 90.6% of the total supply of fresh fruit and vegetables for the quarter under review.

• Gozitan farmers supplied 0.9 million kilograms of fresh fruit and vegetables - 9.4 %of the total supply.

The wholesale value decreased by 1.1% over the comparative quarter in 2010.
