Way back in 1240 when this moated castle was first built its distinctive charm soon earned it the accolade of fairytale castle of Münsterland (Märchenschloss des Münsterlandes).
Today as then, wild ivy winds its way up the walls of the castle the sun shines down through the canopy of the beautiful mature trees in the extensive castle grounds (50h) and ducks and swans paddle their way round the moat.
