A cloud of volcanic ash will force all airports in Berlin to cancel all flights in and out starting at 11 a.m., the German aviation safety agency said Wednesday

The eruption of the Grimsvötn volcano in Iceland has initially caused the Aviation Safety Agency to close Bremen, Hamburg, Rostock-Laage and Sylt airports.

It is likely that further flights will be disrupted, especially in the airspace above Northern Europe.

Airports in Northern Germany are expected to reopen at:

• Bremen (BRE): open

• Hamburg (HAM): currently reopening

• Berlin-Tegel (TXL): 2:00 p.m.

• Sylt (GWT): 2:30 p.m.

• Rostock-Laage (RLG): 5:00 p.m.
