Brussels Mar /Apr 2010 • 7 Architects of the 7 Hills tell about Istanbul in the heart of Europe!..

Supported by the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency, the 7 Architects of 7 Hills exhibition is opening at Istanbul Center in Brussels on February 23.
Organized by the World Community, the 7 Architects of 7 Hills exhibition will meet with art-lovers in the heart of Europe after Turin, Berlin and Jakarta with the project Turkish Architecture NOW.

Aiming at reflecting the modern face of Istanbul onto Europe, the exhibition is curated and organized by World Architecture Community, an initiative of Dr. Suha Ozkan -Hon F AIA, Academician and former Secretary General of Aga Khan Award for Architecture- and Mr. Sefik Onat -former diplomat, project manager and event Manager

The exhibition features Emre Arolat, Can Çinici, Mehmet Kütükçüoglu and Ertug Uçar on behalf of Teget rchtiecture, Sevki Pekin, Nevzat Sayin, Melkan Gürsel and Murat Tabanlioglu on behaf of Tabanlioglu Architecture with Han Tümertekin who represent a new generation of architects with a commitment to Modernist values but who adopt their own international attitude.

TURKISH ARCHITECTURE NOW
As the first of a series of exhibitions on contemporary Turkish architecture, under the banner of Turkish Architecture NOW, the exhibition took place in Torino from 25 June – 24 July 2008 as part of the UIA Torino 2008 World Congress of Architecture. Averaging 100 visitors per day, it was acclaimed as one of the most successful exhibitions of the UIA Congress.

Having attracted the attention of the professionals with its rich and diversified content, 7 Architects from 7 Hills exhibition was then invited to a number of cities internationally, and the 2nd stop was Berlin. Upon the invitation of DAZ (Deutsches Architektur Zentrum) the exhibition in Berlin took place at the impressive premises of DAZ from 15 May – 30 June 2009.

The exhibition then travelled to Jakarta for the Jakarta Architecture Triennial from 4 – 29 November 2009 as the only foreign exhibition invited for the Triennial.

Now at its fourth stop, 7 Architects from 7 Hills exhibition will be on display in Brussels hosted by ICiB (Istanbul Centre in Brussels) under the banner of Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture.

Precedent to the opening of the exhibition, another activity is planned for the month of February 2010 at ICiB where Seifk Birkiye the president of Vizzion Europe, Prof. Jan Bruggemans and Prof. Pierre Laconte will attend as speakers.

The exhibiton opening on 23 February will be joined by Emir Kir State Minister for Urban Affairs in Brussels Regional government, Kadir Topbas the Metropolitan Mayor of Istanbul and Korhan Gümüs the Member of Executive Board of Istanbul 2010 Agency and Urban Implementations Director.

Along with Istanbul 2010 Agency; AUTODESK, MOB Mobilya & Dekorasyon, SCHÜCO International KG, KONE Asansör Sanayi ve YEM Yapi Endüstri Merkezi have contributed to the realization of the exhibition.
