🔹 Martha Argerich 🔹

In the pantheon of modern pianists Martha Argerich stands among the great poets of the keyboard, able to express infinite shades of emotion, feeling and tone colours.

She crowns this evening’s concert with Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto, among the works included in her first public performance in 1949.

The concerto displays its young composer’s deep knowledge of Mozart and Haydn while demonstrating his inventive genius and individuality.
Russian maestro Dmitry Yablonsky directs the Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra in Mendelssohn’s evergreen ‘Italian’ Symphony before turning to Ravel’s exquisite Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, originally written for Paul Wittgenstein, who lost his right arm during the First World War. Japanese-French pianist Akiko Ebi takes on the concerto’s scintillating solo part.
