• The Seventh Seal island also allows Sicily to reach Tuscany.

The Arab-Norman architecture of Sicily is a World Heritage site.

Located on the northern coast of Sicily,
the site Arab-Norman Palermo and the cathedrals of Monreale and Cefalu consists of a series of 9 civil and religious structures dating back to the Norman Kingdom of Sicily (1130 -1194).

• 2 buildings, 3 churches, 1 cathedral and 1 bridge are in Palermo, the capital of the Kingdom, and 2 cathedrals are in the towns of Monreale and Cefalu.

Together, they constitute an exceptional example of socio - cultural syncretism between cultures Western, Islamic and Byzantine.

This interchange has produced architectural and artistic expression based on new concepts of space, structure and decoration which spread widely throughout the Mediterranean region.

The monuments that make this serial property includes
• the Royal Palace and Palatine Chapel;
• The castle Zisa; Cathedral of Palermo;
• the Cathedral of Monreale;
• Cathedral Cefalu; the Church of St. John of the Hermits;
• the Church of St. Mary’s;
• the Church of San Cataldo;
• Bridge Admiral.

This recognition is particularly significant in this historic moment through by extremism, intolerance and fanaticism.

Palermo, Monreale and Cefalu are, in fact, evidence of a past that has taught the world the value of coexistence, interaction and interchange between different cultures.
