Palermo Libya Summit - Khalifa Haftar è arrivato a Villa Igiea dove
è stato accolto dal premier Giuseppe Conte. Atteso per tutto il
giorno, tra dubbi sul suo arrivo, il capo di Esercito nazionale libico
si è finalmente materializzato nella sede del summit intorno alle 20.30.
Dopo un lungo colloquio con il premier Giuseppe Conte, a favore di telecamere, il generale Haftar ha lasciato la sede della Conferenza, non partecipando alla cena delle delegazioni.

Il suo leader, Khaled al Meshri, ha lanciato un nuovo appello al dialogo tra le parti come "unico mezzo per uscire dalla crisi".
Ma che dialogo possa esserci senza Haftar, il capo de facto di est Libya, è tutto da verificare.
Così le trattative per portarlo a Palermo vanno avanti, fino all'ultimo minuto.

The Libya stabilization conference in Sicily: A meddlesome affair

☀️ Seven years after Moammar Gadhafi was hauled out of a drainage pipe in Sirte, his hometown in Libya, and killed by rebel militiamen, the concept of a reunified Libya remains just that - a concept.
Several efforts by the United Nations (UN) and France to bring lasting peace and unity to Libya have failed.
Now it's the turn of Italy, Libya's old colonial master, to take a crack.

Il programma - ha dichiarato Moavero - è di tenere la conferenza per la Libia, non tanto sulla Libia, per facilitare il processo in corso.
Qui in Italia - precisamente in SICILIA a Palermo lunedi 12 e martedi 13 novembre 2018 con una giornata dedicata ai vari interlocutori LIBICI.
Alla discussione che cercheremo di facilitare tra loro intorno ad un tavolo, ed una giornata che vedrà la presenza di numerosi protagonisti della Comunità internazionale (Algeria - France - Germany - Italia - Libya - Russia - Tunisia).
Abbiamo invitato il presidente russo Vladimir Putin - e la cancelliera Angela Merkel alla Conferenza sulla Libia in programma a Palermo : lo ha annunciato il ministro degli Esteri Enzo Moavero Milanesi al termine dell’incontro a Mosca dei giorni scorsi con il suo omologo russo Serghiei Lavrov.
La conferenza si svolge a PALERMO, con idea di farla in terra italiana vicina allo scenario Libico - ha sottolineato ancora il Ministro degli Esteri secondo cui obiettivo primario è facilitare il processo di securizzazione in Libia.
La Sicilia ancora una volta, in prima linea, e in questa circostanza forse avrà un ruolo strategico.

2018 OCT ROME PARLIAMENT - This was announced by Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero, in the Senate.

The program - said Moavero - is to hold the conference for Libya, not so much on Libya, to facilitate the process underway.

We will keep it here in Italy, Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 November 2018 with a day dedicated more to the various Libyan interlocutors.

the discussion that we will try to facilitate among them around a table, and a day that will see the presence of numerous protagonists of the international community.

The conference will take place in PALERMO, with the idea of doing it on Italian soil close to the Libyan scenario - the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed once again that the primary objective is to facilitate the process of securitization in Libya.
