• From 9 to 11 October 2010, the city of Marrakech will be hosting the first edition of a modern and contemporary art fair in Morocco.

• A platform for exchanges between art dealers, gallery owners, artists, collectors and amateurs, this unprecedented appointment has already seduced a selection of international galleries which will meet at the Es Saadi Palace.

With its new organization committee, Marrakech Art Fair is currently unveiling the major features of its event, which will take place at two large exhibition venues:

• The galleries’ stands will occupy the Es Saadi Palace to create an ensemble of the highest quality between East and West. Among the thirty participating galleries, half come from the Arab world, primarily from North Africa.

We can already name the (Marrakech) Tindouf gallery and the galerie 127, newly opened by Nathalie Locatelli in Marrakech, but also the galleries Shart, Loft, and Atelier 21 in Casablanca (Morocco), or even the Violon Bleu gallery (Sidi Bou Saïd, Tunisia). The Isabelle Van Den Eynde gallery is also planning to come from Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

The other half is coming from Europe. Settled in Paris, the JGM gallery will present Jean- François Fourtou, an artist who is familiar with Marrakech; the Hussenot gallery will exhibit Mounir Fatmi, but we will also discover the galleries Anne de Villepoix, or even La Bank, as well as Ilona Orel and Caroline Vachet, among others.

• Then nearly fifteen galleries will present a thematic project within the Ballroom inside the Palace, on the history of art, from Orientalism to nowadays.

• The Jean Brolly gallery offers an artistic face-to-face between Mahjoud Ben Bella and François Morellet.

• We will also find the Protée gallery, the Jérôme de Noirmont gallery, the historic Moroccan gallery Venise Cadre, or even the Malingue gallery presenting an exceptional work.
