New entry Guinness Records: battezza simultaneamente 10 navi, con ognuna la sua Madrina.

Cerimonia avvenuta sabato 23 Mar 2013 in Amsterdam port.

Le Nuove 10 navi: Viking Skadi, Viking Rinda, Viking Forseti, Viking Aegir, Viking Embla, Viking Tor, Viking Braji, Viking Var, Viking Jarl, Viking Atla.

Realizzate tutte nei cantieri navali Neptune Werft Rostock Germany, queste grandi navi fluviali - 135 m. di lunghezza - 11.45 m. di larghezza dispongono ognuna di 95 cabine.

Viking River Cruises HISTORY PROGRAM - delle 10 navi battezzate: 2 sono state consegnate nel 2012 e 8 completate e consegnate nei primi 3 mesi di quest’anno e battezzate contemporaneamente, altre 12 navi in costruzione entreranno in servizio nel 2014.

Viking River Cruises opera oggi con 35 navi, soprattutto in Europa, ma anche in Asia.

Viking River Cruises - Compagnia dell’armatore norvegese Torstein Hagen ha deciso di entrare sul mercato delle crociere marittime - ordinando la 1a commessa di una nave in costruzione nei cantieri navali Italiani di Fincantieri, e che sarà consegnata nella primavera 2015.

Viking Godmothers

With cultural enrichment and privileged access at the heart of every experience Viking offers its guests,

10 women of eminence from around the world
were selected to honor that focus and serve as ceremonial godmothers for the new ships.
They included:

Dertje Meijer - Godmother of Viking Bragi - is President and Ceo of the Port of Amsterdam, which is the fourth largest port in Europe, hosting more than 100 SEA CRUISE ships and 1,300 river cruises ships, and handling more than 75 million tons of cargo every year.

Prior to Meijer’s career at the port, she worked for 15 years in business development projects at one of the world’s great transportation hubs, Schiphol Airport.

Geraldine Norman, Godmother of Viking Var, is founder of the Times-Sotheby index of art prices and best-known for her discovery of the art forger Tom Keating.

An expert in the history of The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, Norman also authored “The Hermitage: The Biography of a Great Museum.
Since, Norman has been working on intern. outreach for the Hermitage, starting The Hermitage Magazine and assisting in the set up the Hermitage Rooms exhibition space in London.
Additionally, Norman co-created Viking's successful week-long "Glories of the Hermitage" tour and "Hermitage Behind Closed Doors" excursion, offering Viking guests privileged access to one of the world's greatest museums.
