Ray nato a Taiwan nel 1989 e cresciuto in Australia, a 15 anni entrato al Curtis Institute of Music di Philadelphia dove ha studiato con Aaron Rosand.

Vincitore del Concorso Queen Elisabeth (2009) e del Concorso Yehudi Menuhin (2008).

///// recenti perfomance in recital al Kennedy Center di Washington e alla Merkin Hall di New York hanno conquistato pubblico e critica.

Nel 2010 protagonista di un concerto con la Sinfonica di Taipei in Esposizione Mondiale di Shanghai.

Ray Chen, nel panorama già affollato dei giovanissimi virtuosi di violino, nonostante i suoi 23 anni (compirà 23 anni il 6 marzo 2012) tra i nomi più richiesti.

Le più importanti associazioni musicali se lo contendono e sotto contratto Sony in esclusiva.

C' è sempre qualcosa di radioso e di gioioso nel suono del suo Stradivari - Mcmillan 1721, nel respiro che i suoi tempi non forzati concedono alla chiarezza quasi didascalica del fraseggio.

L' abbiamo sentito nel Bach e nel Franck del suo primo cd; ed è così anche nel suo nuovo disco, i Concerti di Ciajkovskij e di Mendelssohn incisi con Orchestra Radio Svedese e Harding sul podio: ascoltiamo con quanta misura e buon gusto Chen renda fluido e sorridente il finale ciajkovskijano (che varietà di accenti nel tema in la maggiore del primo couplet) e quanta passione vibri nel luminoso lirismo del primo movimento di Mendelssohn.

The symphony orchestra of the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk is one of the leading German sounding bodies and is a guest at the Thuringia Bach Festival for the first time.
For this concert at the place of Bach’s baptism, the orchestra has invited Paul Goodwin, one of the leading representatives of the historical performance practice and also head of the renowned Bach Festival in Carmel, California. Their collaborative programme includes a suite of sinfonias from Bach’s cantata ­ work as well as a colourful selection of works from other composers who have worked with or commented on Bach’s work.
Soloist is Ray Chen, one of the rising stars of the intern violinist scene.
