Si attende entro questo mese annuncio da parte di Qatar Airways di acquisizione del 49% diella compagnia aerea Meridiana Fly, marchio commerciale delle compagnie aeree Meridiana fly ed Air Italy.

Intesa su acquisizione firmata da Qatar Airways a luglio 2016

Chiusura accordo di acquisizione programmato per il 2017, dopo il via libera di antitrust di Unione Europea

MEMO: riduzione del personale e del costo del lavoro erano 2 delle condizioni poste per portare a termine accordo.


In base agli accordi, il personale ridotto di 400 unità e gli stipendi hanno subito un taglio del 20% rispetto a quanto fissato dal contratto nazionale di settore.

Nei primi 5 anni Qatar Airways fornirà alla compagnia italiana 50 Nuovi aeromobili, tra aerei a fusoliera larga Airbus e Boeing 737 max.

2017 Jan • Qatar Airways to acquire 49% stake in Meridiana fly

Mr. Al Baker gave the national and regional media an update on the airline’s expansion plans in Italy as well as the latest news on its negotiations to purchase a 49% stake in Meridiana Fly.


Al Baker said: Italy is an incredibly important destination in our network and we will keep investing in new routes and increased services in this market. Once the runway extension at Florence Airport is complete, we fully intend to start a service to this historic city, which is so important to tourism in the region.

We are also committed to upgrading the aircraft type currently flying to Pisa from an A320 to a wide body model as soon as we receive more aircraft in our fleet.
