- Star Alliance carrier Turkish Airlines open 30 new destinations in 2012 and carry over 38 million passengers.

In a statement to the Istanbul stock exchange the airline said the new routes will include Accra-Abidjan, Leipzig, Edinburgh, Aalborg-Billund, Bremen, Kinshasa, Buenos Aires, Mogadishu, Misrata, Bilbao-La Coruna, Novosibirsk-Ulaanbaatar, Abuja-Kano.

It also aims to carry 17.2 million domestic and 21 million intern. passengers next year, with revenues of TL14.6 billion ($7.6 billion) and a load factor of 73.6%.

Turkish Airlines plans to add 18 aircraft to its fleet.

In addition to this recent announcement, Turkish Airlines reached another milestone after adding its 200th aircraft.

The Boeing 737-900 – the airlines’ ninth - is the newest addition to its continuously expanding fleet.

The new 737 – adorned with a special 200 sticker - recently debuted at Turkish Airlines’ main hub at Atatόrk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey.

Turkish Airlines executives, employees, and members of the media celebrated the plane’s unveiling at a ceremony which took place at the new Turkish Technic hangar before the aircraft took flight.
